Annual Evaluations
Annual psychological evaluations identify any behavioral, cognitive, psychological, or substance use barriers to an employee’s suitability for their position. The evaluation includes the Personality Assessment Inventory Police and Public Safety Selection Report. After the initial assessment, the timing of subsequent evaluations is at the agency’s discretion (e.g., every 2, 3, or 5 years). A final report is provided to the employer outlining any identified barriers.
-
Critical Incident Appointments
Critical Incident (CI) appointments provide confidential sessions with a culturally competent mental health professional, typically scheduled within 48-72 hours. These sessions include the SCL-90-R assessment and explore the employee’s reactions, support systems, and available professional resources. Employees receive psycho-educational materials and a three-month follow-up for additional support.
-
Fitness for Duty Evaluations
FMRT conducts fitness for duty evaluations (FFDE) based on IACP guidelines. We assess employees when there's evidence they may be unable to perform their job safely due to a psychological condition. Our evaluations include clinical consultation, psychological testing (e.g., SCL-90-R, MMPI-3), and record review, resulting in a concise report on the employee’s ability to perform essential job functions.
-
Mental Wellness Appointments
Mental wellness appointments provide a confidential, one-hour session with a culturally sensitive mental health professional, including the SCL-90-R assessment. The psychologist explores work challenges, coping skills, perceived strengths and weaknesses, support systems, and available professional resources. Employees also receive psycho-educational materials for reference.
-
Peer Support Evaluations
The FMRT Group follows the 2021 IACP Psychological Services Peer Support Guidelines, assisting departments with implementation, member evaluation, and ongoing training based on the “Psychological First Aid” model. FMRT clinicians are available for support beyond peer team capabilities. Peer Support evaluations include testing with the CPI260-PPSSR, FIRO-B, and MBTI assessments.
-
Post-Deployment Appointments
FMRT offers post-deployment appointments for returning veterans, encouraged for all agencies as part of their protocol. These sessions, similar to critical incident appointments, provide support and education on adjustment issues and available resources. They are not fitness for duty evaluations, as they address no work-related issues before the veteran’s return. The SCL-90-R assessment is included in these sessions.
-
Psychological Promotional Evaluations
FMRT’s licensed clinicians review referral information and performance data to assess candidates' background histories, cognitive abilities, interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities. Psychological Promotional evaluations focus on psychological and leadership styles, including the following tests: CPI260-PPSSR, MBTI, PEPQI, and TKI.
-
Special Team Evaluations
The FMRT Group provides customized psychological evaluations for tactical, undercover, or other special teams. These evaluations are designed to explore intellectual, work ethic, and personality characteristics demanded by the special assignment. These evaluations also include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment.
